Surrounded by the four Char Dhams, Yamunotri and Gangotri are devoted to goddesses Yamuna and Ganga respectively. On the other hand, Kedarnath is devoted to Lord Shiva while Badrinath is devoted to Lord Vishnu. In addition, people also visit Hemkund Sahib in the surrounding area, which is one of the highest situated religious sites in the country. Thus, pilgrims visit all these places in aspiration of washing away their sins and to attain salvation, by the blessings of the Lord. Due to the importance of this spiritual route, devotees from all over the world, come here to experience the everlasting paradise. Char Dhams are busy with activity during the summer months, as hundreds of devotees go on board upon the holy voyage. The picturesque environment of the mountainous region is simply enthralling, giving the visitors a perfect opportunity to relax themselves by filling their lungs with fresh air. Furthermore, Chardham is silent and tranquil locales resound with the names of the Lord as the pilgrims advance towards their destination. Infect, as per the Rig-Veda, the Himalayas have the inclusions of the abode of the Gods and even today, people visit the huge mountains in search of the Almighty! It is here only that the four of the most revered pilgrim destinations of the Hindus are situated. The best time or peak season to go for a Char Dham Yatra is from May to October, excluding monsoons because, all the four holy sites Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gagotri and Yamunotri are located in Garhwal Himalayas, which is prone to heavy rain. As a result, all the voyage leading to the shrines are blocked. Moreover, during the monsoon season, there is excessive threat of having landslides, which can further disrupt the journey. For safety reasons, the gates of the temples are also closed for this period of time and the idols are shifted to nearby pilgrim points.
