Four
junctures of Himaliya is commonly refer as “Char Dham Yatra” which includes the
four holy places Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yumunotri. These four
shrines are located in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state in North India.
All of them
have different honour according to its God; Badrinath is dedicated to Lord
Vishnu while Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Gangotri and Yamunotri are
dedicated to its goddess Ganga and Yamuna respectively. In Hindu religion “chardham yatra” has a very significant role and consider that every Hindu must
visit at least once in a life time.
Char Dham
Yatra is one of the most popular pilgrimages in india, every year millions of
devotees come to pay homage in pursuit of elimination of its sins and attend
salvation by the blessing of Gods. Interest for Char Dham is growing
internationally which attracts various foreign tourists which is spread in the
lap of Himalayan Range with its magnificent beauty and ecosystem.
In hindu mythology,
Bedrinath has substantial role when Narayan, the epitome of Vishnu did Tapasya
there. Badri is a Sanskrit word which means berry, at the time of Tapasya whole
jungle was covered with Bedri trees. Lakshmi who took the shape of bedri tree
to save Narayan- this episode made us to call Lakshimi-Narayan unlike
Shiva-Parvati.
Kedarnath is
11,55ft above the sea level near Charobari glacier located in Himalayan range.
Its name
kedarnath is caption in the honour of king Kedar, who ruled in Sat Yuga and has
a daughter name Vrinda, who was a partial incarnation of goddess Lakshmi. Her
severity for several year leads to the name of land as Vrindavan. Kedarnath and
its temple evoves from Mahabharat Era when Pandavas has doing reparation by
praising Lord shiva and its follows a significant role in char dham yatra.
Yamunotri
glacier is 12,971ft above the sea level stretched at the bank of Yamuna river
in uttarakhand, plays a very significant role in Char Dham Yatra and the temple
of yamunotri is 6km away from hanuman chatty, a Garhwal village. Yamunotri
holds a high regard to complete the pilgrimage of yatra. It attracts not only
Indian pilgrimage but also the foreign tourist across the world.
Gangotri
glacier 11,204ft above the sea level,
where river Bhagirathi and Ganga origins. Gangotri temple was built here by the
Gorkha general Amar Singh Thapa, where the seat of goddess Ganga and Ganga
river origins. King Sagara after killing the domons decided to perform
Ashwamedha Yajna to prove his supremacy.
