Char Dham Holiday Yatra – an ultimate place for the pilgrims to attain moksha.  It’s a belief that devotees from all over the world visit at Char Dham to wash their sins.  All dhams, Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath receives holy water from the four rivers. Yamnotri receives water from Yamuna river, Gangotri receives it from river Ganga, Badrinath takes it from Alaknanda river and Kedarnath shrines receives water from river Mandakini. All these dhams have fabulous histories. Let’s know about Badrinath. 
Badrinath, name originates from the local word badri, a type of wild berry. In 9th century, Badrinath temple was reestablished as a pilgrimage site by Adi Shankara. In older times, pilgrims used to walk hundreds of miles by foot to visit one of the famous temples, Badrinath Temple. Average elevation of Badrinath temple is 3100 meters.  It is in the Garhwal hills on the bank of Alaknanda river. Garhwal hills lies between the Nar and Narayan Mountain on the distance of 9 kms. Badrinath is 62 kms northwest of Nanda Devi and 301 kms north of Rishikesh. If you are visiting Badrinath from Gauri Kund  then your distance will be 233 kms by road. On the whole, Badrinath temple can be approached by bumpy, twisty and treacherous roads through the Himalayas.
Atthough there are no historical records available of this holy temple, but the temple is related to lord Vishnu. Idol of Lord Vishnu is made of Shaligram, Black Stone, seated in Padmasan posture. Pilgrims can see the idol of Lord Badrinath in every form whether its Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Hanuman or Kali. All are pervading in one, i.e. Badrinath.
Badrinath Temple is divided into three parts, first is Garbh Griha in which the idol of Lord Badrinath is seated in the inner part , second is known as Darshan Mandap in which priests perform the puja ceremonies, third one is outer hall of Badrinath Temple that is known as  Sabha Mandap. Darshan of Badrinath is available in Sabha Mandap at 6:30 Am to 1:00 noon to 9:00 pm. Devotes can join the puja ceremony after taking a dip in Tapt Kund, hot water spring.
Chimming of bells create heavenly atmosphere in the temple. So devotees pack your bags and make your way towards a dwelling place of lord Badrinath. May your all wishes come true after visiting at this holy place. This yatra will not cost you much also.
